RPD NX¶
RPD NX is the web application in the GeoStru suite for the design and verification of road pavements — both flexible and rigid structures. It runs in the browser, with no installation, and pairs well-established calculation methods with a real-time 2D/3D preview and an AI assistant that explains every result.
Who it is for¶
Civil engineers, road designers and geotechnical engineers who need to size or verify the pavement package (wearing course, binder, base, subbase, subgrade) according to the reference methods of professional practice.
What you can do¶
- Verify a pavement with three methods: empirical AASHTO 1993, rational Ivanov (deflection) and rational Westergaard (rigid pavements).
- Define geometry and layering while the dimensioned 2D cross-section and the 3D model update as you type.
- Compute the design traffic in equivalent standard axles (ESAL of 8.2 t).
- Add a bituminous geogrid reinforcement and assess its contribution through the Traffic Benefit Ratio (TBR).
- Read results explained by the AI and, if the check is not satisfied, apply actionable suggestions with one click.
- Generate the calculation report (Word/PDF) and export the cross-section.
Where to start
If it is your first time, follow the Quick start (5 minutes): from the first login to reading the results.
Manual structure¶
| Chapter | Content |
|---|---|
| Quick start | Your first project in 5 minutes. |
| Empirical method AASHTO 1993 | Structural Number, reliability, allowable axles. |
| Rational method — Ivanov | Verification against maximum deflection. |
| Rational method — Westergaard | Multilayer plate for rigid pavements. |
| Design traffic (ESAL) | From AADT to equivalent standard axles. |
| File formats and export | .rpdnx, Word/PDF report, SVG cross-section, GeoDropbox. |
| FAQ | Common questions and their answers. |
Languages¶
The RPD NX interface is available in 7 languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish, German, Romanian, Danish), selectable from the flag menu in the top-right corner. This manual is published in Italian and English.
